Slowest Team in The Prem...???
Watched all the highlights of yesterday's gsmes..and Bournemouth today live.

West Ham is the slowest team moving the ball forward on attack.

No other team wastes time with the short passes...sideways and backwards in setting up an attack.

We also don't have any players in MF that can bring the ball forward at speed and quickly set up an attack catching the opposition unprepared.

Don't remember us being this slow and sluggish in MF last season.

The only MF player that has this ability to move quickly with the ball is Kouyate. Lanzini Noble Payet are too slow and complicate it with too many short passes eventually losing possession. And Ayew doesn't look much better.

Why have we suddenly tried to become Barcelona...tippy tappy short passing transition game.

Is it the coaching changing tsctics...the players having low confidence...poor skill levels...???mmm

The last two games really highlighted our poor sluggish MF Performances against supposedly weak teams...both of which had better and quicker MF than us.

Need a complete rethink...upgrade in midfield if we are to progress.

But is Bilic the man to do it...he has got us going backwards...not forward ???

I wonder if Lanzini could take on the Noble role.

Quicker in mind and body and his superior technique could link the defence and attack in a more crisp fashion.

I agree with pdcwhu 4:27 to some extent

It seems like everyone is frightened to be the one to make the mistake & give the ball away. The ball becomes like a hot potato (~ quick pass it to someone else I don't want it!)

The passing is too hurried & always under pressure

A classic example was Reid's pass to Cresswell yesterday. He didn't look to see that there were 2 Hull players rapidly bearing down on Cresswell who then made a near catastrophic back pass which Hull should have scored from

Reid was almost as much to blame as Cresswell for that, but that's just one example. It was happening all over the pitch

There is nobody working hard enough to make the pass available to them, with the possible exception of Noble

Our players are taking too long to get forward & too long to get back. Whether that's down to lack of fitness or laziness I don't know

Barcelona: tippy-tappy, tippy-tappy, tippy-tappy, tippy-tappy - killer pass

West Ham: tippy - lose ball

I don't think there's any change in the approach there really. Average short passes per game last season 332, this season 333.

I agree we do get very stuck in possession when teams sit behind the ball, so it's conspicuous against Hull and Burnley. As it was against similar teams last season. Both seasons we've shown that we prefer to not have the ball and play direct on the break. Of course under Allardyce that's pretty much all we did for 4 years, so hardly surprising we still favour that.

But not if your players don't have the basic skills and quick brains and quick feet to do it effectively...

If you're going to try to copy the style of another team, you could do a lot worse than Barcelona.
